Mission and Vision

The overall Mission of the Christian Church can be summarized in the following scriptures:

Matthew 28: 19-20: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Acts 1:8:  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Based on these two scriptures we understand the Church's mission to be Christ's Witnesses and to make disciples by baptizing and teaching all that Jesus taught. In order to do that Resurrection Lutheran Church has identified its own Mission and Vision Statements.

Resurrection's Mission...

In Christ the Cornerstone...Living His Word, Sharing His Love!

Resurrection's Vision...

Christian life experiences at Resurrection Lutheran Church are guided by the Mission Statement “ In Christ the Cornerstone…Living His Word, Sharing His Love.”

This Mission, rooted in Word and Sacraments, is alive in the holding of regular and seasonal worship services offered at different times, in providing a welcoming and friendly environment for visitors, in offering Christian fellowship events and activities for families, youth, and adults, in providing Christian spiritual and educational growth opportunities for all ages, in pursuing community outreach, and in providing caring attention, companionship, visitations and prayer support during both stressful and happy times in members’ lives.

The congregational commitment to this mission is evident  in the willingness of members to provide leadership supporting the mission, active volunteering for tasks, service, and outreach needs, board/committee activities that pursue the mission, high attendance at worship services and other church events, and strong financial support for budgets and special fundraising activities.

The Mission statement identifies what we are trying to accomplish, while the vision gives us a picture of what that Church looks like. We are keenly aware that we do not always accomplish these things at all times, but they are the ways we are attempting to be better stewards of the ministry God has given us on the west side of Sioux Falls. Everything we do should be done with this Mission and Vision in mind.
